Ten people were injured in a multi-car accident at the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Vernon Ave. in Leimert Park Sunday afternoon.
The accident happened at 1:36 p.m. According to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey, a pick-up truck drove through the intersection and slammed into another vehicle. This created a chair reaction collision.
Ten people were transported to local hospitals. Of the ten people injured, a man and woman sustained critical injuries. One victim had to be extricated from their vehicle; emergency responders had to "strategically disassemble" their vehicle in order to rescue the person.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
If you have been injured in a car accident, speak with a Santa Monica personal injury attorney at McGee, Lerer and Associates. In a situation such as this accident, where many people will potentially be making injury claims, it is critical to determine whether 100% of the fault lies with one driver, or can be attributed to several drivers. If one driver bears 100% responsibility for the accident, then there is a good chance that his insurance policy limit will be insufficient to cover everyone's claims, unless he was driving a commercial vehicle. If the at-fault driver does not have enough insurance to cover all the claims, then an injury victim may be able to make a claim under their own underinsured motorist coverage, if they have it.
