A multi-vehicle crash on the 101 freeway left two people injured early this morning.
The accident, which was reported at 4:44 a.m., occurred on the westbound 101 freeway at White Oak Ave. According to CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos, at least three vehicles were involved in the crash. "At one point, there were blocking four lanes on the freeway."
The two right westbound lanes and the White Oak Ave. onramp were still closed two hours later.
The collision sent one of the three vehicles over the side of the freeway, where it knocked over a light pole.
At least two people suffered injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The cause of the accident was unknown.
At McGee, Lerer & Associates, we routinely represent victims injured in multi-vehicle freeway collisions. The most common type of multi-vehicle accident we see involves a rear-end collision. The occupants of the vehicle in the middle often suffer the worst injuries. They can be subject to multiple impacts to the rear of their vehicle, and pushed into the car ahead of them.
If one driver bears 100% fault for a multi-vehicle collision in which there are multiple injury victims, it is often the case that the at-fault driver does not have enough insurance to pay for everyone's injury claims. That is why it is so important that drivers protect themselves by having sufficient uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Your coverage will kick in and pay for your injuries if the driver at fault for the crash is uninsured, or doesn't have enough insurance. The personal injury lawyers at our Santa Monica law firm recommend uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage of at least $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident.
