A two-car accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu today left two people injured.
The crash occurred at about 12:25 p.m. It happened on PCH, one mile north of Trancas Canyon. Authorities believe the accident may have been the caused by two vehicles that were drag-racing. According to Lt. Jim Royal of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, a Dodge Viper drifted across the center lane and slammed head-on into a Nissan Pathfinder carrying a mother and her two children. The collision caused the Pathfinder to roll at least once; it landed on its roof. The Viper spun out of control and burst into flames.
The mother, who was pulled from the wreckage by a witness, suffered two broken legs and was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center. The Viper driver was transported by ambulance to UCLA with chest pain and bruising to his head.
