The driver of a big-rig truck that took a nose-dive off a 101 overpass after forcing a BMW into a railing on the bridge was high on drugs, according to a CHP toxicology report.
The accident happened on January 12th on the northbound 101 freeway at the Nojoqui Creek Bridge, near Buellton. The driver of the tractor-trailer rear-ended the BMW, then nose-dived off bridge overpass, landing in a creek bed below. The semi then burst into flames.
The BMW was left dangling over the edge of the freeway overpass. Its driver, Kelli L. Groves, 36, of San Juan Capistrano, and her 10-year-old daughter suffered major injuries. Pickler's 10-week-old daughter suffered minor injuries.
The big-rig driver, Charles A. Allison, Jr., 48-years-old, was killed in the accident. According to the toxicology report, he was driving under the influence of methamphetamine and amphetamine.
