A car went over the side of Kanan-Dume Rd. in Malibu today.
The accident happened about 11:56 a.m. Near Latigo Canyon Rd., the car plunged 200 feet down the cliff. A witness observed the car go over the side of the road and start a brushfire. The witness reported the accident to the Fire Department.
According to CHP Officer Leland Tang, one person has been confirmed dead. Rescue crews from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are trying to ascertain whether there are any other injury victims. Kanan-Dume Rd. is closed in both directions.
