A pickup truck driver fled the scene of a hit and run accident that killed a motorcyclist Saturday afternoon in Canoga Park.
The accident happened at the intersection of Nordhoff St. and De Soto Ave. in the west San Fernando Valley just before 1 p.m. The motorcyclist was southbound on De Soto. The pickup truck driver was northbound on De Soto, turning left on Nordhoff. The truck driver may have run a red light. After colliding with the motorcyclist, the truck driver fled the scene.
The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old Porter Ranch resident, was thrown into a utility pole. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He had traumatic injuries to multiple body parts, according to the Fire Department. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
The hit and run driver has been described by police as a Latino male with a moustache, in his 30's, driving a 1999 or 2000 white Ford F250 or F350.
