A Lake Elsinore School District bus crashed into a car in Lake Elsinore on Friday, seriously injuring the car's driver.
The accident happened about 7:15 a.m. at the intersection of Canyon Ridge Dr. and Summerhill Dr. The bus driver, 43-year-old Lake Elsinore resident Jeania White, was westbound on Canyon Ridge Dr. The bus was carrying three dozen students to Canyon Lake Middle School. The car's driver, 18-year-old Ryan Geiger, a student at Temescal Canyon High School, was northbound on Summerhill in a white Honda Prelude.
White stopped at the intersection, preparing to turn left. She said she saw the approaching Honda but misjudged its speed. The car slammed into the left front corner of the bus.
Geiger suffered major injuries. He had to be cut from the wreckage with the jaws of life. Geiger was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar. The bus driver was also taken to a local hospital. The students on the bus were not injured.
According to police officers, no testing, drugs or alcohol was involved in the accident.
