Pedestrian crossing PCH in Malibu struck and Killed Saturday night

|

A female pedestrian in her 20's crossing Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Saturday night was hit by a limousine and killed.

The accident happened about 8:45 p.m. near Moonshadows restaurant, in the 20300 block of Pacific Coast Highway. The woman and a male friend were attempting to cross PCH from the Moonshadows side to a parked car on the north side of PCH. The limo driver was attempting to turn left out of Moonshadows' parking lot at the same time that the femal and male pedestrians were standing in the center median.

Traffic was heavy. According to Sergeant Braden of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriffs Station, the limo driver was focused on vehicular traffic as he attempted to turn left, and may not have seen the pedestrians.

The female was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle which struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The location of Moonshadows restaurant is one of the most dangerous pedestrian spots on PCH in Malibu. The restaurant's customers often park on PCH, across the street from the restaurant. Additionally, valets drivers regularly cross PCH.
