A car crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica on Thursday sent two people to the hospital.
The accident happened at approximately 12:22 p.m. in the 200 block of PCH. A car that was southbound on PCH slammed into a car that was exiting a private beach club, turning right onto PCH.
At least two people were transported to a local hospital. One of the victims was critically injured. Another was said to have suffered moderate to severe injuries.
According to Sergeant Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department, neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Accident statistics bear out that Pacific Coast Highway is one of the most dangerous highways in the country. Because of the speed of the vehicles traveling on PCH, when there is a car crash, serious injuries or death commonly occur.
