A dead body was found on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica on Friday morning.
The body was found about 3 a.m. just north of the McClure Tunnel, according to Santa Monica Police Sergeant Frank Marnell. The body was in the northbound lanes. A driver had reported to police seeing a shoe in the roadway, then seeing a dead body.
The coroner and forensics team were dispatched to determine the cause of the death, and the scene is being treated as a crime scene. At this point, it is unknown if the person was a pedestrian struck by a car on PCH, or the victim could have fallen or jumped off the bluff.
