Last night, a hit and run driver struck and killed the driver of a tow truck in Riverside.
The accident happened on the eastbound 91 freeway, west of Monroe St., at about 2:05 a.m. Tow truck driver Christopher Tatro, 40-years-old, who worked for Advanced Auto Tow was in the process of loading a disabled vehicle onto his flatbed tow truck on the shoulder when he was hit.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Sylvia Vargas, a tan sedan slammed into Tatro and his tow truck, then fled the scene without stopping. Tatro was transported to Riverside Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The hit and run driver's vehicle sustained damage to its entire right side.
