A hit-and-run driver injured three young girls Saturday night in Oxnard.
The car accident happened at 7:10 p.m. on Victoria Ave. near Santa Monica Ave. A mother, her two young daughters, and her daughters' friend were walking northbound in a bike lane. A hit-and-run driver headed northbound veered into the bike lane and struck the three girls, ages 6, 8, and 10, then fled the scene. The mother, Joan Aronson, 50-years-old, was not injured. The six-year-old suffered critical injuries. The three injured girls were transported to Ventura County Medical Center.
According to CHP investigators, two people witnessed the accident. They chased after the fleeing driver, but were unable to catch the driver.
Investigators have determined that the car was a 1997 to 2001 silver Toyota Camry. It has front-end damage, including a broken front light, and dmaage to the left front bumper cover. It will be missing a hubcap, which was left at the scene. It may have a cracked right taillight.
If the driver is found, he or she will face felony hit-and-run charges.
If you have been injured in a car accident involving a hit-and-run driver, call McGee, Lerer & Associates and speak with a personal injury lawyer. Our firm handles exclusively personal injury accidents. In a hit-and-run accident, if the at-fault driver cannot be identified, an injured victim's only recourse is to file an uninsured motorist claim under the victim's own insurance policy. Filing such a claim will not cause the victim's insurance rates to go up.
