A woman was killed Friday in Big Bear City when her vehicle was hit by a dump truck trailer.
The collision occurred about 11 a.m. Leonor De Corona, a 37-year-old resident of Big Bear, was northbound on State Route 18 in a 2005 Kia Sorrento. Her daughter, 16-years-old, was a passenger.
A Peterbilt dump truck was southbound on State Route 18, east of Paradise Way. As the dump truck attempted to navigate around a sweeping left turn, the truck's right side hit the mountainside. The impact caused the truck's gravel box to separate from the trailer's frame. The gravel box and trailer crossed over into oncoming lanes and collided with De Coronado's Kia.
Leonor De Coronado, also known as Lily Coronado, was transported to Bear Valley Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her daughter suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to a local trauma center.
