Early Sunday, a driver going the wrong-way on two different freeways caused two head-on collisions in Anaheim.
The first call came in at 1:47 a.m. The caller reported that a driver going the wrong-way had crashed into a car on the westbound 91 Freeway at Coal Canyon.
Instead of stopping, the wrong-way driver continued onto the eastbound 241 Toll Road, causing a second accident at 2:02 a.m. near Weir Canyon Rd.
According to Orange County Fire Authority Captain Marc Stone, firefighters had to use power tools to extricate four people from the two vehicles that were hit. The Orange County Coroner's Office reported that 53-year-old Kyung Namgoong of Buena Park, who was involved in the first collision, died from her injuries. Authorities have not disclosed the condition of the other three people.
Police are looking into whether the wrong-way driver was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.
