A pedestrian struck in a crosswalk in the Sunset Park area of Santa Monica on Sunday night has died.
The pedestrian, a 54-year-old homeless woman, was walking northbound on Lincoln Blvd., crossing Ashland Ave. on the east side of the street at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The driver, a 65-year-old male who was southbound on Lincoln, turning left onto Ashland, struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. She was pronounced dead Monday morning.
The driver was interviewed by the police, but not arrested. He was determined to not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Neither the pedestrian's nor the driver's names have been released by the Santa Monica Police Department.
